Book: Ordinary People Questions: 4-20

Answers

Answer 1

Conrad says that he has come to see Dr Berger because his father Calvin told him to, and he would not otherwise be there.

Conrad initially comes off as apprehensive but quickly caves. Conrad thinks about how great the initial meeting went and how "loose" Berger is as he walks away. He becomes lost in thought, reflecting on how people find it difficult to speak to him.

Conrad's key moment of experience, obviously, was the death of Buck, and event which haunts him throughout the novel because he cannot forgive himself or move on. So he doesn't mention about this brother to the Dr Berger first.

Beth is a very private person and becomes very angry when mentioned about his son. Hence she immediately leaves the party when Calvin tells the others that Conrad is seeing a psychiatrist. Beth is obviously deeply concerned with appearances and the impression her family makes on other people.

Due to his mother's cancer diagnosis and treatment problems, Conrad exhibits erratic behavior. He suppresses his feelings and finds it difficult to express them to others.

Conrad is meeting his old buddy Karen, who was once in the hospital with him, in a little café. Each recalls how close they were in the hospital, conversing for often hours on end. They engage in casual conversation.

Conrad is distracted by memories of his fight with Beth the previous night over the possibility of a trip to London. He plays over the conversation in his mind, remembering that Beth criticized him for asking too many of the wrong questions without asking the important things, like whether or not Conrad wants to go to London.

Why is Conrad insecure?

Conrad experiences a lot of insecurity as a result of his perception that Karen is uninterested in him personally. Conrad is not just the kind of boy who struggles to wake up for school in the first chapter; these peeks into his thinking are getting deeper and more regular. We are starting to glimpse his more violent and dark side, which is strongly related to his extremely flimsy sides. For instance, when everything does not go as he had wanted for the evening, he snaps at everyone, and Karen in particular in his head. Even though Conrad is obviously troubled and depressed, nothing of those emotions comes out of him.

The loss of his parents contributed to his distinctive personality. Therefore, the loss of his parents, which resulted in his distinctive personality, led to his isolation from his peers and even inspired him to write the poem "Alone."

Poe considers a life lived as an emotional outsider in Alone. In Edgar Allen Poe's Alone, the narrator's experience of seeing life and emotions in a way that others do not has left him feeling alone and asking himself why he sees things in such a unique way.

The tone of the poem is menacing and ominous. Additionally, it is depressing because he discusses how miserable his life was in comparison to others. I also believe that what he wrote is related to his own experiences. The poem's tone is one of self-pity on Edgar Allan Poe's part.

According to Wikipedia, “lie is an assertion that is believed to be false, typically used with the purpose of deceiving someone for instrumental, interpersonal, or psychological purposes”. Generally, the term "lie" carries a negative connotation, and depending on the context a person who communicates a lie may be subject to social, legal, religious, or criminal sanctions. although people in many cultures believe that deception can be detected by observing nonverbal behaviors research indicates that people overestimate both the significance of such cues and their ability to make accurate judgements about deception. More generally, people's ability to make true judgments is affected by biases towards accepting incoming information and interpreting feelings as evidence of truth. People don't always check incoming assertions against their memory. While many people struggle to get out of the coat of lying, solutions are simple as they are. Considering how people feel when they get lied on is a way, finding alternatives, and considering the outcomes and consequences of lying are some of the endless ways to stop lying.

The term that best describes the language in this passage is B. factual.

What exactly is a factual statement?

A fact is a statement that can be proven true using evidence. Factual statements are true in all circumstances and for all people; facts are universal. A factual report deals with demonstrable facts, whereas a description, even if factual, expresses the author's feelings as well.

Factual texts use facts and information to inform, instruct, or persuade. Literary texts use language to create mental images in order to entertain or elicit an emotional response.

True or concerned with actual details or information rather than ideas or feelings about it, implies the definition of factual. The author uses a non-linear pattern and multiple structures to parallel Bridges' career with his early life in music.

The advantage of not presenting the story in strictly chronological order is to make the text more diversified.

It is common for texts to follow linear structures that are standardized from the beginning to the end of the text. However, some authors like to make the text more challenging, non-standard, and diverse, mixing structures throughout the text.

If a boy selects a number from all six -digit numbers, find the probability that it will read the same forward and backward. a network has been crashed to the point where all activities are critical. additional crashing: group of answer choices is unnecessary. may require crashing multiple tasks simultaneously. can be done, but all critical tasks must be reduced in duration. is prohibitively expensive. is impossible. What must be added to this expression to make it a perfect square? Write the set A = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, } in set-builder form and descriptive form.(please notice that it is an infinite set) Please help to find 2 examples of parallelism!!Brainliest if you can determine how that parallelism contributes to the author's goal in writing this pieceThere are cases which cannot be overdone by language, and this is one. There are persons, too, who see not the full extent of the evil which threatens them; they solace themselves with hopes that the enemy, if he succeed, will be merciful. It is the madness of folly, to expect mercy from those who have refused to do justice; and even mercy, where conquest is the object, is only a trick of war; the cunning of the fox is as murderous as the violence of the wolf, and we ought to guard equally against both. Howe's first object is, partly by threats and partly by promises, to terrify or seduce the people to deliver up their arms and receive mercy. The ministry recommended the same plan to Gage, and this is what the tories call making their peace, "a peace which passeth all understanding" indeed! A peace which would be the immediate forerunner of a worse ruin than any we have yet thought of. Ye men of Pennsylvania, do reason upon these things! Were the back counties to give up their arms, they would fall an easy prey to the Indians, who are all armed: this perhaps is what some Tories would not be sorry for. Were the home counties to deliver up their arms, they would be exposed to the resentment of the back counties who would then have it in their power to chastise their defection at pleasure. And were any one state to give up its arms, that state must be garrisoned by all Howe's army of Britons and Hessians to preserve it from the anger of the rest. Mutual fear is the principal link in the chain of mutual love, and woe be to that state that breaks the compact. Howe is mercifully inviting you to barbarous destruction, and men must be either rogues or fools that will not see it. I dwell not upon the vapors of imagination; I bring reason to your ears, and, in language as plain as A, B, C, hold up truth to your eyes. using the table in your handbook, $6,000 for six years at 8.5% compounded daily will grow to: multiple choice $8,991.02 $8,950.10 $9,991.20 $9,990.02 none of these
