Discuss possible reasons why there are so few literary milestones recorded for the early years in Britain.

Answers

Answer 1

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

The possible reasons why there are so few literary milestones recorded for the early years in Britain could be that most of the stories of that early British years were passed via oral tradition.

People memorized the stories and were passed orally to other people, families, and further generations.

The name historians have is "oral art form." Experts had to write the manuscripts by hand. It was not an easy task and was a slow process. Not all knew how to write, so it was most common to tell the stories than to write them. That is why there are so few literary milestones about the early Anglo-Saxon period.

Answer 2

The possible reason why there are so few literary milestones recorded for the early years in Britain could be that most of the stories of that early British years were passed via oral tradition.

Before the widespread adoption of writing, much of the storytelling and cultural transmission in Britain occurred through oral tradition. Many significant literary works might have been passed down orally, leading to a lack of written evidence and recorded milestones.

Some more possible reasons why there are so few literary milestones recorded for the early years in Britain are:

The destruction of early manuscripts. Many of the earliest British literary works were written on vellum, which is a type of animal skin that is easily destroyed by fire or moisture. As a result, many of these early works have been lost to history.

The lack of a standardized written language. In the early years of Britain, there was no standardized written language. This meant that different regions and different social classes used different dialects and spellings. This made it difficult to preserve and transmit early literary works.

The lack of education. In the early years of Britain, literacy was not widespread. This meant that there were fewer people who could read and write, and therefore fewer people who could create and preserve literary works.

*I HAD NEVER FELT SO EMBARRASSED IN MY LIFE*

So, a bit of a back story first. Last year, sometime the shower leaked really bad and it spread to the ceiling downstairs. The landlord has finally got around to sorting it out So, there are builders around my house at the moment to fix everything up. At the moment, we are locked in the dining room with the cat who is terrified of people. So, the doors have been closed and because he does not get on with the other two cats, they have been locked in the kitchen. Therefore, it is pretty hard to get around the house. Okay, to the story.

Me, my mum and my sister really needed to pee, as in we were desperate. We had drunk two cups of tea and I know for a fact that I was about to pee myself, but I do not like peeing when there is strangers in the house. So, I decided to try and hold it until they went on their lunch break. My mum and sister decided to run off to the toilet and risk it and the builders did not catch them out as they were working on the shower upstairs. So, I decided to brave it too.

My pee was not dainty. It sounded like a freaking flood. When I was half way through, one of the builders came down the stairs. In my house, the downstairs bathroom is literally next to the bottom of the stairs. So, I managed to stop peeing as the guy was walking past. Then, he decided to stand by the bathroom door, because he was moving some stuff. I felt really awkward sitting on the toilet, half way through a pee, and I burst out laughing.

I managed to then hold that in a bit, but then, I started to make a snorting noise because I realized that he could hear me laughing to myself in a bathroom. I felt so embarrassed. I started to laugh more. The situation was getting worse. So, I decided to just give up.

When I opened the bathroom door, the builder was standing in front of the door doing some stuff. I thought I might manage to sneak past but he turned around and said hi to me. I started to snort again because I knew that he must have heard me peeing. I quickly greeted him back and practically ran into the safety of the kitchen.

The worst thing is that this guy is at least a foot and a half taller than me and he had a really deep voice. My sister also fancies him. I think he is called James. That is what it says on his van anyway.

He is probably going around now telling everyone about the girl who laughs by herself in a toilet. Honestly, l had never felt so embarrassed in my life.

An argument about the relationship between suffering and creativity? Is there something inherent about suffering that enables artist to make great art ?

Answers

Hello there! :D

I don't want to give you a copy-paste answer but I am willing to discuss and talk about my thoughts on this idea.

This is a quote from Nicholson Baker in his book The Anthologist:

You have to suffer in order to be a human being who can help people understand suffering.

And this quote is from Aristotle:

Learning is not childs' play. Learning is pain.

Experience and connection result through shared experiences, most of them involving pain and suffering because we live in a broken world with imperfect people. Pain and suffering is ultimatley an outlet for connection. Connection and collaboration lead to new ideas and new ideologies. It leads to creation! Ultimatley, the way a person connects with the world is also the way that a person sees the world. Creativity stems from this, this view of the world. There is something inherenet about suffering that makes great art. Nothing truly beautiful was special because it was beautiful, but because it was hard to make and create. Michelangelo's work wasn't special because he was Michelangelo, but because his art was created through labor and pain and time, all finitie limitations that human beings have. Our sufferings.

The quotes are here to help you see the connection between my thoughts and the questions you presented. Feel free to use them and think about them!

I hope my musings helped and that you have a wonderful day,

Discuss the significance of Mr.douglas brand and the moat [ valley of fear ]

Answers

Answer:

The significance of Mr. Douglas brand and the moat lies in the cover that Detective Birdy Edwards needs to protect his identity from being discovered by the Scowrers, a murderous secret society that was busted by Edwards in the US.  The moat offers physical protection to the house where Birdy Edwards lives.  So, both Mr. Douglas brand and the moat are shields from the relentless enemies who were after his life after they were released from prison.

Explanation:

The "Valley of Fear" was the fourth and final Sherlock Holmes novel by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.  It was written about 1914.  It chronicled the events that led to the discovery of Birdy Edwards, a Pinkerton detective in Chicago, who ran to England to escape from the murderous hands of a notorious gang.  He was not aware that the society had members spread over the globe, including Professor Moriarty.  The secret society never forgives and the members never forget.  That is why they traced Edwards to England, though he had earlier disguised his identity by answering Mr. John Douglas and carved out a residence surrounded by a moat for physical protection.

Choose the best way to rewrite sentences 1 and 2, using an adjective clause.

O Born in 1862. Mary Kingsley was an Englishwoman who spent years traveling in Africa.
O Mary Kingsley was an Englishwoman. Born in 1862, she spent years traveling in Africa.
O No change is needed.

Answers

The correct answer is B. Born in 1862. Mary Kingsley was an Englishwoman who spent years traveling in Africa.

Explanation:

Adjective clauses can be identified because they begin with words such as who, which, that, or where (relative pronoun) and define or modify a noun such as a person, object, or place. This grammatical structure is only used in sentence B because the section "who spent years traveling in Africa" contains the relative pronoun "who", which is key in this structure and it modified the noun Mary Kingsley. Also, this sentence integrates sentences 1 and 2. In this context, the best way to rewrite the sentences using an adjective clause is option B.
