This is for an English assignment I had and this is what I put. I don't understand it and need some help asap. 1. Highlight every prepositional phrase in each of these sentences. Then, indicate whether each phrase is an adjective phrase or an adverb phrase next to each bullet point. -Elena’s mother was unhappy in Paterson. (highlighted: on the fire escape) -Adjective phrase -The boys tossed basketballs through a hoop in the yard. (highlighted: through a hoop in the yard) -Adverb phrase 2. A few suspenseful moments later the door opened just a crack. The red, swollen face of a woman appeared. She had a halo of red hair floating over a delicate ivory face—the face of a doll—with freckles on the nose. Her smudged eye make- up made her look unreal to me, like a mannequin seen through a warped store window." My examples: (I am still missing one) - ¨The red, swollen face of a woman appeared.¨ (adjective phrase) Add either an adjective phrase or an adverb phrase to each sentence. Label each phrase you add. Answers

Answer:

Explanation:

This quote comes from a book that Trevor Noah wrote about a South African childhood. So this quote could be talking about being accepted as a black person. In my opinion, I think it means being accepted for who you are. Not just accepted by the law but also human beings because African Americans weren't accepted by white people for a very long time even though by law they were told to be treated equally.

This passage was taken from a book by Trevor Noah about his upbringing in South Africa. Thus, the phrase "being accepted as a black person" could be used in this remark.

What is the concept of the excerpt?

Trevor refers to a black boy who was thought to be "hued" and who was likely a member of more than one culture. He was also perceived by some black people as someone who was renouncing his black roots because of his mixed cultural background.

It is believed it refers to being accepted for who you are. African Americans were not only not accepted by the law but also by white people for a very long period, despite the fact that the law required them to be treated equally.

Answer:

Survival was explored by Mike Vilhauer and Rainsford in both similar and different ways from each other. One way that these two similarly tried to survive is that Mike and Rainsford tried to seek a safe area to spend the night when they first got lost. Mike "decided to make shelter under a pine tree" and Rainsford "reached a flat place at the top...All he knew was that he was safe". The different ways that survival was explored between these two is that Rainsford was able to search for clues to find humans while Mike tried to get humans to find him. This is shown when Rainsford "examined the ground closely and found what he had hoped to find—the print of hunting boots" while Mike "used cypress needles to spell out 'HELP'" hoping a helicopter would come to him.

Coming to the new world would have its struggles, which is to be expected because you would have to start all over and moving is hard enough so there would be challenges. I think the best option would be to find a place to settle near water such a spring because spring water is safe to drink due to aquifers under ground which are made of lime stone which filters water. That would spare me from having to build a well. Then get enough food to last awhile and start building a house or a shelter of some sort. I'd also need a place for whatever livestock I brought with me because no matter where you settle there are bound to be predators such as wolves. Dear Diary:

I am writing to you to share with you a very touching experience I had today. I got an opportunity to visit an old age home. It is a kind of home for those old people who for some reasons cannot stay with their grown-up children or those who don’t have any family member to care of them.

I felt very emotional interacting with an old lady. Although she is an affluent woman, she has to live in the home because both her daughters are married and well-settled. Her husband passed away long ago. She said she had opted to live at the Home for many facilities such as safety, security, lodging and boarding, and the most important thing-- company of peers.

I was so sad and depressed to see first time in my life there are such homes where the old people have to live without families. I personally feel people living in such old age homes feel very lonely and abandoned. The old people need their sons, daughters, grandchildren to live happily. Why is it that in our country the old fathers and mothers cannot live with their married daughters’ families?

I have decided that I shall be visiting the old age home regularly to give company to the old people living there.
