Answer:

Story-writing.

Explanation:

Our college had organized a farewell party for the final year students who were going to be graduate soon. I was one among them. Some of my friends made a plan to give a performance on the day of our farewell. We all had worked hard for our performance.

Finally, the day of farewell came and so as our time of performance. I was supposed to bring the audio cassette for the dance. As soon as we took our position I asked another student to play the music. Suddenly, all began to laugh and I felt so embarrassed because by mistake I brought up the cassette in which I was crying badly for some chocolates. It was a recording of my childhood days.

In the recording, I was crying less and screaming more for which my mother's laugh could be heard. Moreover, my group began dancing on that recording and other students began capturing those moments. I had never felt so embarrassed in my life.

What does samuel adams mean by the phrases “our contest” and “an asylum?”

Answers

Answer:

By the phrases “our contest” and “an asylum," Samuel Adams means the "American Revolution" and the "US as a nation."  The struggle for independence is the contest and a place on earth is an asylum.

Explanation:

The  contest by Revolutionaries was to gain independence from Britain.  Britain had earlier imposed taxes on the colonists without representation.  This was not welcomed by the colonists, who vehemently protested against the taxes.  But the British monarchy refused to listen to protests.  Under the Boston Tea Party, these revolutionaries gathered to fight for independence.  They were later provoked to take up arms against Britain following British declaration of war.

Recalling my college days, I still remember my first public appearance at the stage. I was supposed to host a seminar for our college. Even though I was highly conscious, my professor encouraged me to put up the best of my efforts and stay confident. I acted upon his advice and prepared for the event arduously. However, I was preparing well but the fear of facing such a large audience for the first time often gave me goosebumps. As soon as the day was coming near, the nervousness was increasing. Finally, the day arrived and I gained all my strengths and began the seminar but as soon as the guests arrived, I began to clutter and forgot my lines. I started drinking water again and again and I was left completely blank without any words and out of my mind. Then, my teacher came and somehow managed the event. I still can't forget the day as I had never felt so embarrassed in my life.

is that even a question??????

What is not included in a narrative writing

Answers

Explanation:

Complex words and syntax are a hindrance to clarity and should be avoided. Ideas should be clearly distributed between sentences and paragraphs.

Example: Although I have never been to the races before, I was very excited to behold them, yet also somewhat nervous, because of the type of people who go there.

Improved: I’d never been to a horse race. I was excited to go, but also a little nervous, since I wasn’t sure about the people at the track.

2. Don’t describe each and every one of your own movements

Example: As I went in the door, I turned and saw a TV. I looked around and saw posters on the wall. As I went further in I noticed everyone was watching M*A*S*H.

Improved: I immediately noticed the posters on the wall, though everyone else’s eyes were focused on a TV playing M*A*S*H.

3. Avoid the second-person narrative

An important part of the narrative essay is the fact that the writer experienced the events described.

Example: As you go in the door, you will turn and see a TV. You look around and see posters on the wall. As you go further in you notice everyone is watching M*A*S*H.

Writing in the present tense is okay, however.

4. To interest the reader, dynamic word choice is key

Avoid sounding too clinical. Use the same slang, idiom, and turns of phrase you would use in speech. Avoid passive constructions.

Example: I am presented an array of unpleasant photos in which many casualties are shown after automobile accidents.

Improved: They showed me a book stuffed with gruesome pictures of people who’d been in car wrecks.

5. Limit references

MLA format recommends including citations in the text, but in a narrative essay this is disruptive. If a work was helpful, cite it in a ‘Works Consulted’ list after the essay. Explain yourself as you go along, rather than trying to refer your reader back to a previous statement.

Example: When I first saw the comic book fans jumping up and down, I thought as they would, “Lord, what fools these mortals be” (Gaiman 1989.) I later learned why they do this.

Improved: The fans jump up and down. When I first saw this, I wondered what they were doing and my mind conjured a quote from Shakespeare that Neil Gaiman used in his “Sandman”: “Lord, what fools these mortals be.” However, I watched a bit longer and realized the company spokesmodels were throwing free merchandise. The fans wanted to get the most from their day at the convention.

The narrative essay is a keen rhetorical tool because it allows the readers to draw their own conclusions, but falling into the traps above deprive it of its effectiveness. By avoiding these errors, you can subtly guide your reader in your desired direction.

Why does Frederick Douglass describe the distant relationship he had with his mother? O to correct a misconception about his past O to criticize her for not protecting him from their master to show how slavery can destroy the deepest of human bonds O to demonstrate how well he recalls his formative years

Answers

Answer:

to show how slavery can destroy the deepest of human bonds

Explanation:

Fredrick Douglas raises the issue that the salve mothers and slave children faced under slavery. Mothers and their children were separated from each other at a very tender age. Douglas was sold to another slaveholder so that the mother and the son can meet minimally. Also, because of minimal interaction with his mother, Douglas didn't felt any grief about the death of his mother. This incident highlights the issue that how slavery made the motherly love die before being born in the hearts of the slave mothers and the slave children.

He described this relationship to show how slavery is capable of destroying the deepest bonds, like the bond between a mother and a child.

As we know, the relationship between a mother and a child is something very intimate and is described as one of the deepest and truest bonds that a human being can establish.

However, Frederick Douglass did not have the privilege of obtaining this kind of experience.

He shows in his book, "Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass," how distant the relationship between him and his mother was. According to him, this happened because:

Douglass and his mother were slaves and were seen as a commodity. This meant that Douglass and his mother could be separated at any time, as either of them could be sold to another slave master. To avoid the pain of separation, his mother preferred to raise him in a distant, cold and empty way. This made the separation less painful for both of them.In addition, slaves were constantly punished, so it was necessary not to establish family ties between them.

With this, we can conclude that, in describing the relationship between himself and his mother, Douglass felt sad because slavery prevented him from experiencing the most important bond in one's life, which is the bond between mother and child.

Answer:

It suggests something mean and angry.

Explanation:

Just from the sentence provided and the main definition of "snarled" we are able to infer that the best reasoning for his use of this word is because of the negative connotation that the word has. So because snarled loosely means to speak angrily or aggressively it is safe to assume that that is the type of mood the author was aiming for.

”With all this rain, we will have to build an ark, if we want to get to work.” Explain the allusion.

Answers

Answer:

The phrase "With all this rain, we will have to build an ark, if we want to get to work" refers to the biblical passage of Noah and his ark, through which the biblical prophet was entrusted by God to create an ark in which to keep two animals of each species and his family, to survive a great rain that would be sent by God to punish men for their wickedness.

So the phrase refers allegorically to the fact that, in a great flood, workers must get an ark in order to get to work.

how would you describe effective writing in your own words? in 2 paragraphs

Answers

Answer:

Effective writing means that you can create good reading strategies, and your punctuation, grammar, or spelling skills should be good. However, you should also have a good tone when someone is reading your paper, and organizing your thoughts is really important as well. You have to keep readers engaged into your story because if not they will not like your story and probably say it's bad, so you have to make sure you are good on these small things to become a good writer.

When you also want to be effective in your writing, you should always get to the point. No matter what. You should use vivid nouns and verbs, and have a good  beginning, middle, and end. Specific words are the key to success, it is also easy to follow in multiple ways.     THINGS THAT NEED TO BE CHANGED IN HILLVIEW HIGH SCHOOL

Dear Mr. Adam, I write to you as a concerned student who has watched some practices play out in this great school and some habits that are lacking in the teachers that should be promoted among them.

First of all, I discovered that among the students, there exists widespread examination malpractice and it is so bad that students no longer study for exams or tests because they are confident that they would cheat, not be caught and pass. This is deplorable!

Furthermore, the level of moral decadence among the students is at an all-time high. Students do not respect their teachers anymore, disobey them, and outrightly insult them to their faces which is quite disturbing.

On the part of the teachers, I believe that they should be encouraged to be more firm with the students and if possible, send reports to the parents of erring students so they would know that they cannot do some things and go scot-free.

In addition, I believe that the teachers should make use of projectors and slides to teach because this would help the students understand the concepts they are explaining much better.

Thank you for your time.

Answer:

Sir Gawain - He is considered the ideal knight who upholds every tenet of the code of chivalry. Sir Gawain is the nephew of King Arthur and a favorite among all the Knights of the Round Table. He accepts the potentially fatal challenge of the Green Knight to save his King from humiliation. Sir Gawain survives all trials in this adventure, but his folly of accepting the green girdle to save his life in case of mortal combat brings out his human weakness. Yet he is accepted back at the Round Table, and all the knights show solidarity by deciding to wear a green girdle as a reminder of this event.

Green Knight - The Green Knight crashes in unannounced at the Christmas celebration at Camelot. He brings the much awaited element of magic into Arthur’s party. He offers a deal to the Knights that no one volunteers to take. The Green Knight displays displeasure and mocks the chivalry of Arthur and his Knights. The beheading game he suggests sets the plot of the poem in motion. He displays supernatural powers as he rides away with his severed head. The Green Knight’s appearance is so terrible that it inspires fear in even the most courageous of men in Arthur’s court.

Bertilak of Hautdesert - Bertilak is the archetypal hospitable host, and he treats Gawain with utmost civility at his castle. He goes hunting for three days while Gawain is at his castle and offers to exchange the spoils of the sport with whatever Gawain has gained on these days. Bertilak’s hunting scenes in the forest are juxtaposed with the scenes in which Sir Gawain is tempted by Bertilak’s wife.

Bertilak’s wife - She plays the role of the beautiful temptress when Gawain is at Bertilak’s castle. Gawain’s chastity and loyalty are put to test by her attempts to tempt him. She partially succeeds in influencing him when she makes him accept the green girdle that has powers to save him in the face of mortal attacks. She is an important character in the poem because she is the one who brings out weakness in Gawain.

Morgan Le Faye - Morgan Le Faye is the one who masterminds the events in the poem. She is Arthur’s half-sister and wants to disrupt the proceedings at Arthur’s court. She is an evil sorceress who disguises herself as an old and ugly lady who serves Lady Bertilak. Her ugliness helps highlight the beauty of Lady Bertilak.

King Arthur - King Arthur is renowned for being the most courteous among the Knights of the Round Table. He is portrayed as courageous and one who honors the code of chivalry. He is ready to take on the Green Knight’s challenge when no other knight steps up to accept it. He presides over feasts at Camelot and values his knights for their bravery and high morals. King Arthur is portrayed as the worthy liege lord whose knights are fiercely loyal.

Queen Guenevere - Queen Guenevere does not have any major role to play in the poem. She is seen in the first part of the poem participating in the Christmas celebrations at Camelot. She is the epitome of beauty and courtesy.

Description =

Camelot - King Arthur’s castle and court is the setting for the opening lines of the poem. The Christmas celebration at Camelot is in full swing when the Green Knight enters and offers a strange challenge to all at Arthur’s court.

Bertilak’s Castle - The castle is the place where Gawain’s adherence to the code of chivalry is put to test. Gawain reaches this castle when he is out in search of the Green Chapel. Bertilak, under the influence of Morgan Le Faye, manipulates the game to test Gawain’s moral values.

The Green Chapel - The Green Chapel is the place where Gawain meets the Green Knight a year after the beheading at Arthur’s court. Gawain's fault is revealed and he is shamed by the Green Knight at the Green Chapel.

But he gets accepted back into the Round Table and the other knights show him appreciation by wearing a green girdle.

Green Knight - Shows up to a Christmas party uninvited at the Camelot. He makes an offer to the knights that nobody wants or takes. The Green Knight then mocks the chivalry of King Arthut and his knights. He suggests a beheading game, he then displays superhuman abilities as he leaves with a severed head. The Green Knight’s appearance is so fearful even the bravest of knights are scared.
